Village Style Fish Curry Recipe

                   Village Style Fish Curry Recipe

Here is a simple village style fish curry recipe that can be made with some of the most basic masalas commonly found in all Indian households. This recipe uses rohu fish; however, you can use any fish you like instead of that.

Ingredients of Village Style Fish Curry

  • 500 gms Fish
  • 2 medium Potatoes (Wedged )
  • 1 tsp Ginger Paste
  • 1 tsp Garlic Paste
  • 1 tsp Cumin Paste
  • 1 tsp White Mustard Paste
  • 2 large Onions (Chopped )
  • 1 large Tomato (Chopped )
  • 1 tsp Haldi
  • 1 tsp Red Chilli Powder
  • Mustard oil for frying and cooking
  • Salt according to taste

How to Make Village Style Fish Curry

1.
Thoroughly wash the fish, pat it dry and mix with salt, haldi and red chilli powder. Marinate for 10 minutes and lightly fry until golden brown.
2.
Fry the potato wedges and keep side.
3.
Prepare masala, grind ginger, garlic, cumin and mustard seeds separately and keep aside.
4.
In a kadhai, heat oil and add chopped onions. Cook until soft and then add ginger paste, garlic paste, and cumin paste one after the other in intervals of one minute.
5.
Keep stirring while adding masalas to make sure it doesn’t burn. Now add tomatoes and cook until the tomatoes are mushy.
6.
If you feel the masala is sticking to the kadhai, add some water. Now add haldi, red chilli powder and salt.
7.
Add potatoes, mix well and add water for desired consistency.
8.
Boil until everything is cooked well, finally add the fish fry and let it boil for another couple of minutes.
9.
Garnish with chopped coriander and serve alongside fluffy white rice.
